XMod 05.05.00 Release Notes

Before You Install...

  • Check Add-On Compatibility: If you are using any add-ons to XMod such as XMod Calendar, XMod RSS Reader, or some third party add-on, please ensure those add-ons are compatible with this version of XMod before you install. Otherwise they may not function correctly.
  • Backup Your Data and Files: Whenever you do an upgrade please backup your database and web files prior to installing - just in case you need to quickly rollback to the previous version

Changes:

  • NEW DotNetNuke 5 Compatibility: This is the version XMod version built for DNN5 compatibility
  • NEW XMod Constant: Now you can use the URL of the current page via an XMod Constant
  • NEW Pass Through Parameters: Now you can add parameters to the add, edit, and copy buttons in XMod templates. This allows you to pass values to the Add and Edit forms.
  • NEW Optimization: We've included some optimizations that should decrease load times for certain types of implementations.
  • NEW FormView Installation: We've made it easier to install the FormView. For DNN 4.5 and above, the FormView module is a separate module install, included with XMod. Just install it like you would any module.
  • NEW Defaults for Editors: By customer request, Manage Forms and Manage Templates now default to using the Plain Text Editor rather that the FormBuilder and Rich Text Editor respectively.
  • MORE: For a more complete list of changes, see the Revision History topic in the XMod help file.

Do you recommend this version to Business Directory 6.1 og is it better to use XMod 51 ?
I get some errors when installing Xmod 55 and using DNN49

UndtagelseSystem.Exception: DNN reading failure close at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnLoaderFactory.GetDnnAdapter() ved DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.Install()

Hi Carsten,

Business Directory is compatible with Xmod 5.1 and Xmod 5.5

If you purchase Xmod 5.5 be sure to use the version that is compatible with DNN 4.9. It will be explained in the documentation.

They are both fine.

If you have not purchased Xmod, it would be best to go to the newer version since XMod 5.1 is not compatible with DNN 5+ when you decide to upgrade.

An additional clarification on the installation of Xmod 5.5:

XMod is designed for DotNetNuke 4.3 and later and is installed using the standard procedure for installing private assemblies (PA's). When you unzipped the XMod distribution file (the "UnzipMe" file), several subfolders should have been created. You'll find the installation file for your version of DNN under the "Installation" folder where you'll find folders for DNN 4.3/4.4, DNN 4.5, etc. Each folder contains the installation file for the listed DNN platform.

In addition to the standard installation procedure, you will need to perform a couple of additional steps. Complete installation instructions are provided in the help file that came with this program (see next paragraph for where to find the help file).

In addition to the "Installation" folder, you'll also find a "Documentation" folder which contains a compiled help file (XMod.chm) and Adobe Acrobat versions of that help file.
