Am I missing something? As users register, I would like that they can manage/edit there own listing. It seems that they can edit all listing.

The only place I can find where a user can edit there own list is under 'Configure Your XMod Module'...

Show Only Current User's Records
If checked, XMod will only show records that have been added by the current user. NOTE: the user must be logged-in. If this box is unchecked, XMod will display records added by all users.

Hi David,

Please check the following:

1. In the DNN module settings of the Xmod module on your listing page - Do you have registered users can edit module checked?

XMod module security settings

Registered users should not have edit rights on this setting. Xmod handles the security setting internally based on the security settings tab on the Configure Xmod Module page.

XMod internal security settings

By default Administrators and the Host account can view and edit all records.

The user that is assigned to the listing should only be allowed to edit their own listings.

While logged in as Administrator, also check who was assigned the listing in the Admin panel portion of the form. You can log in as that user to test if you have your security settings correct.

FYI - next week I will be creating another training video that will show you how you can set up a Your Account page by creating a new DNN page, adding a XMod instance to that page and configuring the XMod module so a user can only view and edit their own listing(s).

David,

Your reference above to Show Only Current User's Records would be used for the Your Account page that I mentioned in the last post. You would not use that setting on your main listing page that is viewable by the public.

Here is an additional reference to XMod online help on security.

I created a Security Role Listing Agent and within Module Settings...Basic Settings... Permissions... I have 'edit module' set for Listing Agent! When user register within the Business Directory Module they are Listing Agents. Under Configure XMod Module... Security Settings... I have highlighted both Aministrators and Listing Agents

 David,

You are close.

Under the basic settings for the module do not give any security role other than Administrator edit permission rights.

Let Xmod handle that internally.

You should have basic settings set to Inherit View permissions from Page.

In Configure Xmod Module >> Security Settings you are correct both Administrators and Listing Agents should have privilege to add records.
