I am in the process of updating XMOD and related prior to implementing BD 6.1. I will be upgrading XMOD to 5.5.2. My site already has FormView installed, showing a version of 1.0.0. I tried to install the XMOD FormView PA that came with XMOD, but it produced errors, apparently not liking to be installed on top of an existing installation. Is that ok, i.e. can I leave it where it is? I read that uninstalling FormView would cause pages to stop working, and reinstalling would not bring them back.

Advice?

Hi Worth,

According to Kelly Ford's, developer of Xmod, documentation if an existing version of the formview is installed you should not have the need to reinstall the new version.

That said, I am running XMod 5.5.2 on all of my production sites and I have not had a problem installing the XModFormView552_DNN45.zip file.

As you probably know, the installation package for Xmod 5.5.2 has three installation packages for DNN43_And_DNN44, DNN45 and DNN50.

Be sure to use the correct version that matches your DotNetNuke version.

I will also mention that I am sticking with DNN version 4.9.5 for the time being.

It is my opinion that DNN 5+ is still not ready to be placed on my production sites.

I have a development server that I am currently testing DNN 5.2.

We are running into some issues with the sharing of jQuery between third party modules and the module installer has a habit of timing out during module installations due to some SQL script security verification methods that have been introduced into the 5 series.

This has caused some modules to become corrupted on my test server and I would prefer to wait until these issues are resolved before placing the DNN 5+ version on my production servers.

Buck
