I'm interested to use BD6.1 to be used on my marketing site. I have some questions:

I want to integrate user registration with DataSprings Dynamic Registration with several type of user membership roles (Platinum & Gold - charged,  Standard - Free). When user register on my site they need to select one of these 3 membership types.
After registration completed and paid via Paypal, the user can directly add their listings.

My requirements :

1). Can I as admin set default active/expired period for each membership role? Ex. Gold has 3 months active period, Platinum has 6 months active period, Free has 12 months active period. So I don't need to edit each listing agent detail in BD6 to set active period. Its done on registration page according to their membership.

2) Can I limit the number of listings that can be added by users according to their membership role? Ex. Platinum has 10 listings maximum, Gold has 5 listings maximum, Free has 2 listings maximum. Can I control this feature on BD6 admin console?
Again I don't want to edit each listing agent detail in BD6 to set maximum listings number. Its done on registration page according to their membership.

3). I want Platinum members have their listings ON TOP 7 on each category (means each category only has 7 Platinum listings maximum). Can i edit the template for exam. platinum listings highlighted by special bg color. Gold members following the listing position from 8th,.... One more thing. Gold member automatically have their listings position above Standard-Free member's listings.    Can I control these on BD6 admin console?

4). Can i use DataSprings Dynamic Tags for all BD6 contents?

5). Can I limit maximum file size per user/role for video upload?

6). Can each category/listing detail page have a different page? I want to display another module's contents on each category page.

7). SEO is my big concern. If each category/listing detail page could have different page, Can I use SEO modules like Ifinity URL or related modules  to rewrite URLs to be more SEO friendly? How about EndoSeo usage to optimize all categories, listing details and contents? Are all of these SEO modules compatible with BD6?

8). Can i have different dashboard for categories which I can put on everywhere I want on the pages? Is it template based so I can have my own category dashboard design?

9). I concern as well on flexibility and rich security features to control how user view/add/edit the listings. Please descriptions with more details on Admin rights to manage the listings ?

Please Buck, your comments or anybody who are using BD6 could give me some advices.

Thanks

Yes, you can integrate with any subscription tool that has the ability to add a user to a role after successful subscription.

In Confiure Xmod Module on the Xmod action menu you determine which user roles can add listings.

Configure XMod Module >> Step 4 Security Settings

My requirements :

1). Can I as admin set default active/expired period for each membership role? Ex. Gold has 3 months active period, Platinum has 6 months active period, Free has 12 months active period. So I don't need to edit each listing agent detail in BD6 to set active period. Its done on registration page according to their membership.

There is an admin panel on each listing that allows you to set the expiry date on a per listing basis. This is currently a manual operation.

Xmod has the ability to set the limitation of records added on a universal basis. If you wanted to allow different record adding requirements you would need to create a seperate form for each security role and set the number of listings to each specific form.

On the XMod module action menu >> Configure XMod Module >> you can set the default sorting in asc or desc order based on form fields that exist withing the form. There are no form fields that relate to the user roles.

I would suggest contacting Tony Harrison from FatGeorge to see if he has a customization solution for you.
http://fatgeor.co.uk/. Ask him about the FatGeorge Custom Tags add-on for Xmod.

4). Can i use DataSprings Dynamic Tags for all BD6 contents?

XMod has its own set of tags and tokens. I have never tried integration Dynamic Tags.

See:
XMod constants and XMod Online Help

5). Can I limit maximum file size per user/role for video upload?

The image, video, and audio size are configured by form parameters that are attached to the FatGeorge File Upload form controls.

They are currently universal settings for all users that have rights to add records.

6). Can each category/listing detail page have a different page? I want to display another module's contents on each category page.

Yes, you can use the separate detail module that is available for the XMod site at http://dnndev.com.

Reference:
Listing Details on seperate page

Business Directory is currently using the Xmod functions for meta tags.

The form combination of Company and Listing Title is used for the Title.

The form field shortDescript is used for the metat descriptions.

The Search Tags field is used for the meta keywords.

You may need to contact
Kelly Ford, the developer of Xmod, to see if the products you mention are compatible with XMod.

 Hi buck,

thanks for reply.

1. Does expiry date can only be set per listing basis? We cannot specify it per role or even per category basis? It will cost the time if we have to set it per listing basis.

2. On BD6 descriptions, its mentioned Platinum, Gold sponsor, .. What does it mean? Can we link it to specific user roles? Can we limit the listing number that can be added for each sponsor?

Thanks

For your requirements on expiry date you may be interested in the latest version of the HouseKeeper add-on for XMod.
We have added some extra features which allow you to set either the Approved/UnApproved flag or the expiry date dependent on the listing owners valid subscription to a given role.
i.e. you specify a role, the listing owner subscribes for a period say 12 months. When the 12 months have passed and they are no longer in the specified role because they have not re-newed their subscription HouseKeeper can either Un-approve their listing(s) or set the expiry date. Either way the listing(s) will now no longer display untill the listing owner subscribes to the specified role again.

If this sounds like it will meet your needs please contact us at support AT fatgeorge.co.uk.

In version 5.5.2 of XMod the Administrator that is designated on the portal admin settings page has rights to approve or disapprove comments.

You can create a category dashboard manually using a text/HTML module or use the FatGeorge Tag Cloud control and place these category choices anywhere on your site.

Fanny,

XMod allows expiry date on a per listing basis.

There is a section of the form in the Admin panel that allows the admin to decide if this user is a specific sponsor type. There is associated images that will render on the listing page if a sponsor type is selected.

You could then use the default sort of Xmod, in the Confirgure Xmod section to default sort by cboSponsor descending which would place Platinum sponsor listings first and then gold sponsor listings, etc.

These sponsor links are not assigned to a specific user role.

Limiting the number of listings a user can add is a universal Xmod configuration which is handled through Manage Forms >> Edit Form >> Settings Tab >> Security >> Maximum records per user. It applies to all users.

 Hi Buck,

What do you mean with Administrator that is designated on the portal admin settings page as rights to approve or disapprove comments?

It means only BD6 administrator who can only approve comments? Can comments approval done by the listing owner not the admin?

Thanks

 Hi Fanny,

Currently the security on the XMod comment control is set so only the assigned site Administrator and Host account can approve and delete comments.

Thsi is the administrator account that is designated on the Admin tab >> Site Settings >> Advanced Settings >> Other settings >> Other Settings >> Administrator

This is not the ideal solution and I have requested a change in the comments control from Kelly Ford, developer of XMod for the next Xmod version.

You can also set the comments to auto approve.
XMod Online Help reference

XMod comments control documentation
Comments documentation

The comment sections at the bottom of the detail template can be adjusted.

I have also requested that the comment control send email to notify when a comment has been submitted.

I suggest that anyone interested in these changes should post your request to XMod at:

The Xmod Forums

or the Xmod Helpdesk

For now, I have offered a free tool to help Administrators view pending comments.

You can obtain the form code here:
Free XMod Comment Approval Tool
