In regards to listing waiting approval:
This is designed behavior.
The listing waiting approval will remain until the Administrator edits the listing and approves the listing as a standard listing or an enhanced listing (more info button with details page)
This logic is separate from the Xmod approval process.

In regards to the edit icon.
1. Ensure, in the Admin Options section of a edited listing that the listing was added by the user and is assigned to the user in the assign to user section.
2. If you are using Xmod 5.5.3, I recently discovered a glitch in the Xmod code that was causing the behavior of the edit icon not rendering to users other that Administrators and host accounts.
I reported this to Kelly Ford, developer of XMod.
He fixed the issue and released Xmod 5.5.4
