I'm having a problem understanding the search funtionality/results.

Issue #1, what type of search is this? If I type in a state name, for example, i get a list of states back.  If I type in "company name, state name" - I get nothing...

Also - when I try to add additional search fields (even just 1 in addition to what you specify in your setup docs) I get the following error:

The  exceeds the maximum length allowed. This is most likely the result of too many user-searchable fields being selected and/or the length of the field names are too long. Try decreasing the number of user-searchable fields. If the the names of the fields are long, you might be able to avoid this error by renaming those fields via the "Manage Forms" screen.

This limitation is ridiculous and how do we overcome?  Will renaming the fields in the form screw something else up down the line?

Thanks!

John,

The quantity of fields to search is a limitation set by XMod.

It is my belief this was set due to the fact that too many form fields added to a SQL LIKE condition statement could become a long process and bring down a SQL connection on a shared hosting service when many records were being searched.

For this reason, Buck had added the search tags portion tof the form. The field name is tags and comma separated search criteria can be added to this field for search purposes.

Do not change field names and try limiting your addition of search fields to XMod search to no more than 5 or 6 form field selections.

If you would like to see see any XMod functionallity improved in future versions of XMod, add it to the wish list at http://dnndev.com/Support/Forums.aspx.
