I am currently testing compatibility with our Xmod applications with DNN 5.0.1. Here are my testing procedures and preliminary results...

Testing Scenario:

  1. Started with a site created on DNN version 4.9.1
  2. Installed XMod 5.1
  3. Added the Business Directory 6.0 applicatioin and configured it.
  4. Added a test listing to Business Directory
  5. Upgraded the test site to DNN 5.0.1
  6. Tested on IE7 and the current build of the FireFox browser
  7. Could not determine any application problems while still using Xmod 5.1 on the DNN 5.0.1 build
  8. Reported this to Kelly Ford, developer of XMod
  9. Questioned Kelly if it was necessary to upgrade to Xmod 5.5 to prevent any further issues
  10. Kelly's response was that there are binary compatibility issues in DNN 5.0.1 and it would be wise to upgrade to the soon-to-be-released XMod 5.5 version to eliminate any future problems
  11. I am now in the process of upgrading Xmod to a pre-release version of Xmod 5.5 for futher testing.
  12. Installed XMod 5.5 pre-release version
  13. Installed the new Xmod 5.5 Form View module. (Note: This install of the form view is no longer handled on the Xmod Administration console. It is a stand-alone DNN module included in the new XMod 5.5 installation folder. It is not required to install this version. If you do install this version it may delete the existing version of XMod FormView module and all page instances. Since DNN Professor applications rely on the Form View module for showing the inquiry forms, you may need to add and configure a new form View module to pages that had form view attached and assign the inquiry form to the new page instance.
  14. FatGeorge Tag Cloud control. FatGeorge Tag Cloud is also used with the Form View control. All instances of the Tag Cloud control may disappear with an upgrade to the new Form View module. The forms will still be intact but you may need to add and configure a new Form View module on pages that included the FatGeorge Tag Cloud control. After adding the new Form View module you will need to assign the proper form to this page instance of the module.
  15. Tested FatGeorge FileUpload control version 3.5.1. Finding the 3.5.1 version is not retaining images upon update. I have FatGeorge team now included in testing process.
  16. Installed the release version of Xmod 5.5
  17. Installed the new version 3.5.2 of the FatGeorge FileUpload control.
  18. All tests are positive and compatiblity with DNN 5.0.1 is verified.
  19. No modifications to the DNN Professor applications were needed.

Notes: I recommend that anyone using version DNN 5.0 upgrade to DNN 5.0.1 or the current version as of this post..

If you are using DNN 5.0.1+ upgrade to XMod 5.5.

Xmod 5.5 has compatible installation versions for DNN 4.3. DNN 4.5, and DNN 5+

Upgrade to FatGeorge FileUpload control 3.5.2

FYI - The Fatgeorge Tag Cloud and Housekeeper controls were not affected by the DNN 5+ upgrade and the current versions work as expected.
