Hello Everyone,
The past few months have brought many changes to my life and it is with great reluctance that I must write this letter.
I have been asked to return full time to my duties of managing our family marketing company.
The company is responsible for the livelihood of eight families, including my new grandson, and in these recessionary times has to have my full attention.
I have tried to juggle helping all of you with XMod and XMod product related questions and I have enjoyed, and will treasure, every one of the thousands of emails and phone calls that I have shared with all of you throughout the years.
The Hard Reality
When my health began to deteriorate working continue 20 hour days, the decision was obvious that I had let go of one of our businesses.
I had spent 5 months writing the code for Business Directory 7. I struggled for two months on whether to release it or not. Finally, with the help of my family, the decision was made that the support hours would be too strenuous.
You are all important to me and I really tried to satisfy all of you. In life we all have our priorities. Mine have been family, business and country. My family, and my grandson, needs me now and that is the reason that I must relinquish developing XMod applications.
Where to Go From Here
A few folks have emailed me to request leaving the DNNprofessor articles and Business Directory forums up to share knowledge with each other.
I was happy to do this. But the majority of forum posts were directly seeking my personal response or requesting customizations to the products. I soon found that the 20 hour days were continuing, my health was not improving and I felt guilty for not being able to give you the service you deserved. It could not continue.
If I found somebody that wanted to purchase the sales distribution rights to Business Directory and I was convinced that they would continue to give the service my clients expected of me, it would make me very happy knowing I did not disappoint anyone.
For our friends that have purchased Business Directory, I always wrote the application to give you the ability to access all of my source code. This was important to me that, in the event I had to discontinue development, you were not stuck with a product that you could not access or have customized to fit your needs.
The application is built on the XMod platform and 70% of the application is XMod infrastructure.
Kelly Ford, the developer of XMod, promotes custom XMod development services under his product section at http://dnndev.com. Kelly is also creating a directory of XMod developers that can be hired for custom development work.
You are not alone.
The final point is that I am deeply appreciative of getting to know all of you. Working with you and watching your directory businesses grow has been more reward than I can express. I want to thank Kelly Ford for his stellar support in agreeing to modify and improve the XMod product so many times when I thought it would benefit my Business Directory clients.
Deepest regards and I will miss you,
Buck
